In the course of life, anyone may experience or witness a traumatic event; young, old, man, woman or child.  It may be violent crime, a life-threatening incident, abuse, neglect, or even natural disaster.

Sometimes, after trauma, people experience “post-traumatic reactions”. These are feelings and experiences caused by a traumatic event and may appear as:

  • Flashbacks

  • Sadness about the loss of a person or relationship

  • Nightmares

  • Feeling unsafe

  • Anger

  • Uncontrollable Fear

  • Avoiding reminders

  • Guilt about surviving

  • Feeling numb

  • Questioning religious faith

Often, the trauma survivor isn’t the only one struggling.  Survivors’ loved ones may often experience decreased happiness and satisfaction, social isolation and anger.

In recent years there has been a social transformation from fearing trauma symptoms to acknowledging and supporting trauma survivors.  This trend has generated research leading to the development of powerful therapeutic techniques that can relieve trauma related symptoms, and help the survivor restore relationships and have the ability to enjoy life again.

The mission is to help trauma survivors – adults and children – and their family members with immediate crisis counseling, trauma-specific treatment, and information and support.

Therapy tailored to the client may include:

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)

  • Cognitive Processing Technique (CPT)

  • Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

  • Other proven, effective strategies
